This 3rd granddaughter was born on 17 April 2020 - just the country was in lockdown due to covid 19 pandemic. We did not get to see for 2 whole years and I missed the smell of new born babe.
Thus we could only track her progress via Skype and later via Whatsapp chat. Oh, to pinch those chubby cheeks !! Maddie seemed fascinated to see us on the computer. Always smiling and wanting to reach out to us. We watched her trying her trying to lift up her head, trying to turn over, trying to stand and then her faltering unsteady first steps
She probably thought we live in the computer screen.
We met Madeleine physically for the first time in May 2022. By then she had celebrated her 2nd birthday. We were delighted that she bonded with us instantly! And from then we met up a few more times in 2023. By then she has matured in many ways - in speech and dexterity ( and cheekiness!). When I commented that "Maddie, you look chubby." She answered, "I am not chubby, I am just fluffy." And when I said, " Hmm, you are sweet." She answered, "I am cute!" 😁
Happy Birthday Maddie! |
By the time she turned 4, her vocabulary has improved tremendously. We were able to engage in more levels - storytelling, playing word games, board games and fixing lego. There is a certain compassion in her - when she discovered that her popo (me) was losing at snakes and ladders, she changed the rules to enable her popo to win. "Everybody wins!" declared the little angel.

At the pre kindergarten end of year concert, Madeleine was selected to welcome parents to the concert. So brave and confident. Proud of you Maddie! We look forward to see you grow in stature and maturity.
